Where the Depths Become Light

Oil & Cold Wax on Canvas Board · 11 × 14 in.

Where the Depths Become Light moves through layers of turquoise, cerulean, deep blue and translucent aqua, gradually opening into passages of pearl, pale green and quiet gold. The surface carries the traces of its making—veiled, scraped and revealed again—as though something hidden beneath the visible world were slowly coming into consciousness.

The darker passages do not feel separate from the light. They seem to give birth to it. Depth becomes luminosity; density becomes transparency; what was concealed begins gently to reveal itself.

The painting speaks to those periods in life when we are drawn beneath the familiar surface of things—not to escape into darkness, but to discover what can only be found there. There is movement throughout the work, yet no fixed destination: only the sense that life is continually dissolving, reforming and carrying us toward a greater spaciousness.
