Softly Unfolding
Created through successive layers of oil and cold wax, Softly Unfolding explores the quiet emergence of beauty from within. Luminous veils of rose, crimson, blush, and deep violet gently dissolve into one another, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and expansive. Rather than depicting a flower or a landscape, the painting suggests the unfolding of an inner presence—a moment when what has long been hidden begins to reveal itself.
The surface has been built through repeated applications, subtle removals, and translucent layers, allowing colour to glow from within rather than merely rest upon the canvas. Rich passages of deep plum and burgundy embrace a radiant centre, while delicate textures and softened edges encourage the eye to wander, discovering new harmonies with every viewing.
Softly Unfolding is a meditation on transformation through gentleness. It speaks of the quiet blossoming of the heart, reminding us that life’s most profound changes rarely arrive with force, but with patience, grace, and light. The painting offers a contemplative space where strength and tenderness exist together, inviting the viewer into an experience of serenity, renewal, and quiet wonder.
